San Dimas Rotary Club was sponsored by Glendora Rotary.

The presentation dinner was held on Wednesday June 29, 1960 at the Stuft Shirt Restaurant in Upland. Master of ceremonies was Dwight Bradley of the Glendora club, who was acting as special representative of the district governor. Jerel Richards, district governor of District 532 presented the charter to the new San Dimas Club, which had 23 members. Ballentine Henley, who was district governor of District 525, spoke about Rotary’s place in the evolving world. The solemnity of the event was emphasized by the tuxedos worn by all of the men in attendance.

Chester Lukens, Robert Rimpau, Lee Sonnentag, James Sossamon,
Paul Spencer, Keith Weeks, William Welch, Harold Wells.

Because San Dimas was still an agricultural community, classifications in the new Rotary Club included orange grower, avocado grower, and lemon grower, as well as
many of the classifications represented in today’s clubs Meetings were held on Wednesdays at the Western Chuck Wagon on Foothill Blvd in San Dimas.
